My daily photo, 9/21/12.

Panorama of our cruise ship in Bangkok, before we boarded it. My nephew threw a pre-wedding party on that cruise ship and it was an experience of a life-time. Fantastic view, good music and great food. My daily photo at Smugmug.

Ta Phrom temple, Angkor Wat.

Ta Phrom temple at Angkor Wat, Siem Reap, Cambodia is a fabulous unique Buddhist temple built in the 11-12th century. It was featured in the movie, Tomb Raiders starring Angilina Joilie. There are trees literally growing on top of the temple and are called strangling trees. There are of the ficus or white silk family and are 100s of years old. They grew into the temple which lay abandoned for centuries till discovery in the 20th century. The town of Angkor wat was abandoned due to invasion by the Siamese people or Thailand. The locals and Buddhist monks fled and the forest took over the temples. Ta Phrom is one of the temples at Angkor Wat which is a Unesco world heritage site. The sun was harsh that morning and not a perfect day for photography. Our guide took us around in such a hurry that I could not pend enough time composing the shots. Furthermore, I had this high tech. new Manfriotto tripod which was so heavy to carry around in sweltering 105* temp. and had some trouble figuring out the attachment to the camera. So ended up taking few shots at the temple and remained unsatisfied. Some shots, I share here.

Different shades of a Tiger.

The Tiger is a majestic animal even though only having 3 tones of color. A fun animal to process in these meagre different shades of color. Neverthelss, the results can be stunning given the challenges, as seen with the following post-processing, done with lightroom 4, Topaz BW effects, Adjust and Color Efex 4.
