The Giant by Goya

The Colossus (also known as The Giant), is known in Spanish as El Coloso and also El Gigante (The Giant), El Pánico (The Panic) and La Tormenta (The Storm).^[3] It is a painting traditionally attributed to Francisco de Goya that shows a giant in the centre of the canvas walking towards the left hand side of the picture. Mountains obscure his legs up to his thighs and clouds surround his body; the giant appears to be adopting an aggressive posture as he is holding one of his fists up at shoulder height. A dark valley containing a crowd of people and herds of cattle fleeing in all directions occupies the lower third of the painting.
The painting became the property of Goya's son, Javier Goya, in 1812.^[4] The painting was later owned by Pedro Fernández Durán, who bequeathed his collection to Madrid's Museo del Prado, where it has been kept since 1931

Tum hi ho

Learning how to play this melodious song. I felt its not enough to just know the lyrics by heart and sing it with a karaoke track. The true impact will be to accompany it either with guitar or piano. Since I am more comfortable with a guitar, I thought I will give it a go. It will take a lot of practice to get it right upto performance level. That is the ultimate goal.

Photographic Art    

Its quite a challenge learning compositing and textures for an artsy photo. Multiple treatments with various software in Topaz and Photoshop are applied for that perfect look that satisfies the eyes. Topaz Impression is one of the major editing software for art photos but I have not had much luck to getting it to work on my laptop because of compatibility problems with the graphic card and openGL issues. So, I have used Topaz simplify, glow and detail mainly and do the layering in Photoshop. I am always on the lookout for great textures for the background. I have a few in my growing collection. I have still not used my Intuous tablet for the brush applications because it is kinda inconvenient with a laptop. One of these days, I may get serious enough to use a desktop workstation with the Intuous. Till then, I am enjoying learning new tricks!

Supermoon Eclipse, 9/27/15.

Shot the supermoon with the Sigma lens at 500mm and that too, handheld. I wish, I had used the tripod because it was truly, a breath taking sight. The most beautiful moon and that too, in a rich orange red color, what they call a blood moon. The moon is at the perigree or closest point to earth as it orbits elliptically around it. What made it special was that the full moon coincided with a total lunar eclipse, a one in 20 years event. Unfortunately, since I handheld the beast of 500mm lens, I had to use ISO 6400 and a somewhat longer exposure time of 1/30th sec to 1/10th sec. Lot of noise at ISO 6400.

But, to my rescue was Topaz denoise and Topaz detail with Adobe lightroom contributing to some editing.

The pyramid that I build
I build in my mind
Four blocks of ‘here’ as the base
Three blocks of ‘now’ on top
Crowned by two blocks of ‘Positivity’
And on the top block is my new ‘Reality’
And buried in the sand below
Are the treasures of the past.

The pyramid that I build
Stands tall in the desert of time
Reaching out to the sky of fame
Unmindful of the winds of change
Perched on the top, I feel free
Free to ride the chariots of clouds
Clouds filled with new opportunities
Clouds that will carry me to places
Where I have never been before.

Ma Vlast

Má vlast (Czech pronunciation: [maː vlast], meaning "My homeland") is a set of six symphonic poems composed between 1874 and 1879 by the Czech composer Bedřich Smetana. While it is often presented as a single work in six movements and – with the exception of Vltava – is almost always recorded that way, the six pieces were conceived as individual works. They had their own separate premieres between 1875 and 1880; the premiere of the complete set took place on 5 November 1882 in Prague, under Adolf Čech, who had also conducted two of the individual premieres.

In these works Smetana combined the symphonic poem form pioneered by Franz Liszt with the ideals of nationalistic music which were current in the late nineteenth century. Each poem depicts some aspect of the countryside, history, or legends of Bohemia.
